It is with profound sadness that the Partners, Associates, Counsel and Staff of Stempel Bennett Claman & Hochberg, P.C. mourn the passing of one of our founding Partners, Richard L. Claman.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, partner, mentor and friend.
Richard was an attorney’s attorney. He possessed a vast knowledge of the law, a photographic memory, a sharp intellect and an ability to distill complex matters to formulate clear and concise arguments.
Richard always brought an intensity to his work. He was a fierce advocate for his clients, although his intensity never interfered with his inherent kindness and decency.
Richard started his legal career as a litigation associate at Rosenman Colin after graduating Harvard College and Harvard Law School, both with honors. He moved from Rosenman Colin to Seiden Stempel & Bennett in 1990 where he established that firm’s litigation practice.
Richard founded Stempel Bennett Claman & Hochberg, P,C. in 1995 with Richard Stempel, James Bennett and Steven Hochberg. Over the past 32 years that we practiced with Richard, he grew his litigation practice into one of the preeminent commercial real estate litigation practices in New York City.
The Firm extends our most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his wife Beth, children Emily and Karen (Peter), his mother Edith, their extended family and friends. He will be missed.
